Admissibility of a name changeA change of first name is only permissible if there is good reason. The local registrar's office is responsible for this issues. There are these following reasons for the admissibility of a name change: • offensive or ridiculous-sounding first name • not clearly identifiable sex • difficult pronunciation or spelling • confusion • exotic first name in naturalization • adding another name for religious reasons The possibilities for a name change: • the existing name with a new one • the addition of another first name(Second name) • the deletion of a first name • changing the spelling of first name The change of the last name Surname changes are known commonly as a result of family laws, such as a birth, marriage, divorce, etc. When marrying its not necessary to have a name change, since both partners can keep the existing name. But it is also allowed to choose the birth name of one spouse as a common surname. The other partner will receive the right to decide whether to accept his partner's surname or add his current name to the new married name and run it as a marriage and double name. The family name can also be set after the marriage. At birth, the surname is inherited, so to speak, because if the parents are married to each other and bear the same surname, the child gets the same family name. Should the parents not be married to each other or they do not carry a common family name, they can determine together what surname the child should receive. If, however, a change in custody (eg divorce) comes, the parents must determine a family name for the child within three months anew. If the child reaches the age of five, it must also want the name change. Of course there are a number of special cases. If the sole custodians has a new marriage, it's possible to transfer the new married name to the child. This is called Innaming. The other guardians must agree to this part. A child who is older than five years, can reject the change. If the child is under 14 years old, a additional carer represents its interests. The child cannot take another last name from the date of effectiveness of Innaming anymore, because the new family name is irrevocable. However Innaming can be done several times under the assumption that the custodian parent enter a new marriage more than once. When Innaming is an official record, thats why only a registry office or a notary may carry out these issues.
